After being transformed into the 'He Man' world of 'Eternia' for new movie 'Masters Of The Universe', Beer Quarry Caves is braced for a tourist boost.
The East Devon underground attraction says the on-site preparation took two months. with only three days of actual movie filming with the actors last year.
The Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films live-action adaptation of the 80s classic sees Prince Adam, played by Nicholas Galitzine, return to his magical homeland to face the evil sorcerer Skeletor, played by Jared Leto, to fulfil his destiny.
Because of the protected and historic nature of the caves, the crews used wooden screws in existing crevices to hang parts of the set on - before removing every trace after filming.
It is believed the production team liked the jagged ceiling in the caves, which also has different areas inside from Roman through to Gothic - which they felt enhanced the backdrop of the movie.
Site manager of the 2,000 year old caves Steve Rodgers said: "We had electricians, plasterers, painters, sparkies and pyrotechnics experts - it was fun.
"What surprised me was the efficiency and the speed of which they came through here and got done what they had to do.
“There was a lot of permissions to be sought and granted as well as it's a triple SI and they had to go through Natural England.
"I oversaw a lot of the prop installation down here because it's a historical place."
Mr Rodgers hopes crews will be back in future, reflecting: “I was told by the producer on the last day of shooting, he pulled me aside and he said if it's a success at the box office and we make a profit on this movie we will 100 per cent be back to do number two."
