Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision on the A34 near Oxford in which two people were injured.

At 7.55pm on Saturday, police were called to a collision involving a black Audi A4, a white Citroen C1 Flair PureTech and a Mercedes Sprinter recovery vehicle with a trailer on the A34 northbound near the Pear Tree Interchange.

It is believed the Mercedes recovery vehicle was positioned partially in a lay-by and partially within the carriageway while assisting a broken-down vehicle.

The Audi subsequently collided with the recovery vehicle before spinning into the Citroen. The Audi and Citroen came to rest in the carriageway, blocking the road.

A 32-year-old woman sustained facial injuries and a 26-year-old man suffered concussion. Both were taken to the hospital.

Investigating officer PC Shaireen Khan, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing to anybody who witnessed this collision, or the circumstances leading up to it, to please get in touch.

“In particular, we would like to hear from anyone who was travelling on the A34 northbound near the Pear Tree Interchange between 7.30pm and 8pm on Saturday evening and may have dash-cam footage.

“Any information or footage, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information, dash-cam footage or other relevant evidence should contact Thames Valley Police, quoting reference number 43260557460.
