Man arrested at Oxford station after hoax bomb threat on train

British Transport Police arrested a 54-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and making false bomb threats

A man was removed from a train at Oxford station and arrested following reports of a hoax bomb threat made on board yesterday afternoon.

British Transport Police said they were called to Oxford station shortly after 4.30pm on 3 July after receiving reports that a passenger had made false bomb threats on the train.

Officers attended the scene and arrested a 54-year-old man. He was taken from the train and is being held on suspicion of possession of a bladed article, communicating false information, and obstructing the railway.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said, “We were called to Oxford station shortly after 4.30pm yesterday, following reports of a passenger making hoax bomb threats on board a train.”

The investigation is ongoing.
