Thames Valley Police has enacted a Section 60 order in Bicester to prevent potential serious violence.
The order has been put in place in the town following an assault in Magdalen Close at around 6.30pm on Thursday (11 December).
The area is defined by the A41, Vendee Drive, the A4095 Howes Lane and the A4421 Skimmingdish Lane, as shown in the map below.
The order lasts 24 hours and is due to expire at 16.30pm today (13 December). The order will be reviewed and may be extended for another 24 hours.
A Section 60 order can only be put in place in a defined area at a specific time when a senior officer believes there is a possibility of serious violence, or weapons being carried.
The order temporarily enhances powers for officers, meaning they can stop and search anyone in a designated area.
Detective Superintendent Lewis Prescott-Mayling said: “We have put this Section 60 order in place in Bicester to prevent potential violence following yesterday’s assault.
“The order will give our officers extra powers to carry out stop and search activity and has been enacted for the safety of the public.
“You will see more police officers in the area while the order is in place so, please speak to them if you have any concerns.”
Anyone with information about the assault can report online or by calling 101, quoting reference 43250630036.
