Police responded to an alleged criminal damage incident on Cromwell Avenue in Thame, leading to the arrest of a 55-year-old man early this morning.

Armed police were involved in the operation shortly after midnight, according to a spokesperson for Thames Valley Police.

The operation saw Cromwell Avenue closed temporarily as officers attempted to make the arrest.

"A 55-year-old man from Thame has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage," Thames Valley Police said.

The man remains in police custody, and Cromwell Avenue has since been re-opened.

Thames Valley Police thanked locals for their patience while authorities dealt with the situation.
