Two men arrested after stabbing in East Hagbourne
One man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries
Two men have been arrested after an assault in East Hagbourne, South Oxfordshire.
At around 12pm yesterday (1 July), an altercation broke out between a group of males in Wilcher Close, where a knife was seen.
Following the fight, a 25-year-old man suffered stab injuries and boarded a train to Swindon.
At Swindon train station, British Transport Police officers arrested the man on suspicion of public order offences and possession of a knife in a public place.
He was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening or changing injuries, where he remains at this time.
A 38-year-old man from Abingdon has also been arrested on suspicion of the same offences. He remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector George Atkinson said: “I understand this altercation will be concerning but we believed it was a targeted attack with no threat to the wider public.
“We have been investigating it as a priority, with two suspects in custody, and have increased patrols in the East Hagbourne area for the next few days. Please speak to a uniformed officer if you have any concerns.
"I am appealing for any witnesses and anyone with information about this assault to come forward.
“I would also urge anyone with CCTV cameras or video doorbells in the area, or any drivers with a dash-cam who were driving in the area at the time, to please check your recordings in case you have captured anything that might help our investigation."
