Ruben Roosken joins Oxford United on loan
Huddersfield Town left-back set to link up with new teammates in training
Oxford United has signed Ruben Roosken on loan from Huddersfield Town, with the agreement including an option to buy that could become an obligation under certain conditions.
The 25-year-old left-back joined Huddersfield in January 2025 and has featured in 40 matches for the club since his arrival. Before moving to England, Roosken played in the Eredivisie in the Netherlands where he made 48 appearances.
Known for his attack-minded style of play, Roosken will watch Oxford United’s fixture against Sheffield United tomorrow evening before training with his new teammates later this week.
“This is a really exciting move for me and one I can’t wait to get started on," Roosken said after completing his move. "I’m an ambitious player and I’ve come to Oxford United with a real desire to help bring success this season and beyond. I want to contribute quality, embrace the challenge, and help the Club immediately.”
Head Coach Matt Bloomfield said: “We’re delighted to welcome Ruben to the squad. He brings real dynamism, energy and athleticism, along with excellent quality on the ball. He fits the profile we’re looking for and will add fresh impetus to the group. I’m looking forward to working with him on the training ground.”
Ed Waldron, Head of Football Operations, commented: “Ruben is a player we’ve monitored for a long time, having closely followed his development in the Dutch leagues with Heracles. His move to Huddersfield allowed us to track his progress more closely, and he has adapted to English football extremely well over the past year. He brings strong experience at a good age, and we’re confident he can make an immediate impact.”
