Reminder to keep Oxford's parks clean during holidays
Oxford City Council is issuing a call to action for visitors and locals to keep Port Meadow and other green spaces clean as visitors are expected to increase over the upcoming August Bank Holiday weekend.
With the warm weather encouraging outdoor activities, the council is emphasising the importance of using designated bins or taking any litter home.
Port Meadow, a popular spot for picnics and outdoor gatherings, sees a significant number of visitors annually.
Unfortunately, leftover litter poses serious threats to local wildlife and the environment.
Past incidents have seen cows and other livestock suffer injuries and even fatalities due to ingesting rubbish like plastic bags.
Recently, a swift response from the public and staff prevented further harm when a bag of litter was discarded.
Oxford City Council urges everyone to contribute to the protection of these cherished landscapes.
