A cyclist is being urged to come forward after a 77-year-old woman was seriously hurt in a crash in Oxford.

Thames Valley Police said the pedestrian was knocked over on St Mary's Road at around 7.40pm on Wednesday 16th September.

She suffered a broken rib and cuts, and was treated in hospital before being discharged.

The force said the cyclist stayed at the scene but then left without giving their details.

Officers have described the cyclist as a white woman with blond hair cut into a bob.

She was tall and slim and believed to be aged under 40.

Police said she was wearing a helmet, possibly black or grey, and a backpack, and was riding a large-framed racing bicycle that was possibly dark green or black.

Investigating officer PC Jake Schulz said: "I am making a request for this cyclist to please come forward and contact us as you will have vital information to assist me in this investigation.

"I am also appealing for any witnesses to the incident to please get in touch."

Anyone with information can contact Thames Valley Police through their website or by calling 101.
