Extra police patrols are happening in two villages in The Vale, after high‑value jewellery and cash were stolen from people's homes.

Neighbourhood officers say there's been a rise in incidents in Longworth & Great Coxwell.

Properties have been targeted in the afternoons, as it gets dark.

TVP South Oxon and Vale of White Horse posted on Facebook to say homeowners have not been present during the recent incidents, adding 'you’ll see extra police patrols while we investigate.'

Anyone who sees anything suspicious is urged to call 999 immediately.

Officers have organised some 'have your say' events for residents with any concerns, at the Tithe Barn in Great Coxwell on February 11th and The Blue Boar in Longworth on February 13th.

They're also reminding people to lock all windows & doors, set alarms, consider CCTV / Ring doorbells, fit window alarms and keep valuables out of sight and secure.
