Police arrest six men in Oxford over historic child exploitation claims
Officers executed warrants at multiple properties in Oxford and one in Manchester
Thames Valley Police has executed a series of warrants targeting multiple properties in Oxford and one in Manchester in connection with historic group-based child sexual exploitation.
Six men, all in their forties, were arrested last Thursday (9th July, 2026) in relation to offences involving two female victims who were aged between 13 and 15 at the time. The events took place in Oxford between 2001 and 2005.
The victims are currently communicating with officers and receiving support.
Additional arrests were made in South Yorkshire, Buckinghamshire, Nottinghamshire, and Merseyside, bringing the total to ten men arrested, all now released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
Investigation details revealed
Following the arrests, Detective Inspector Robert Underhill explained that the operation is part of a complex investigation into historical group-based child sexual exploitation led by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit.
Underhill emphasised the police force's ongoing commitment to tackling child sexual exploitation using various investigative tactics and reassured the local community, acknowledging their possible concerns.
He urged individuals who may be reminded of past incidents to contact the police, explicitly encouraging them to report these matters if they wish, and provided guidance on using non-emergency and emergency contact numbers.
