Police appealing for witnesses after stabbing in Littlemore

The victim, a man in his twenties, sustained serious injuries and is in hospital in a non-life-threatening condition

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an assault in Oxford.

At around midnight today (Thursday 11 December), officers responded to reports of a stabbing at Northfield Close, near the junction with Alice Smith Square in Littlemore.

Police say the victim, a man in his twenties, sustained serious injuries and is currently in hospital in a non-life-threatening condition.

A 22-year-old man from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent, and a 21-year-old woman from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent. They both remain in custody at this time.

Investigating officer Detective Constable James Gerard, of Oxford CID, said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to this incident, which has left a man with serious injuries, to please come forward.

“Officers remain in the area carrying out thorough enquiries, and you may see an increased police presence while we complete these checks.

“Please be assured there is no wider risk to the public, and the scene will be stood down later today.”
