Residents in parts of Oxfordshire are facing disruptions to their water supply following a burst water main.

Thames Water say the the overnight leak on Oxford Road in Eynsham has "deteriorated more quickly than expected".

MP Charlie Maynard said the problem is mainly affecting homes in north Witney and North Leigh in a Facebook post yesterday (4 March): "There is a strong possibility that more households will be without water from around 11pm over a wider area including all of Witney, Carterton and Minster Lovell.

"We're hearing people are experiencing low pressure, not really no water at the minute."

In response, a bottled water station was set up at Sainsbury’s in Witney. The station will be reopened on Thursday (5 March) if necessary. Teams have been delivering bottled water proactively to residents registered on the Priority Services Register.

In a statement Thames Water apologised for the issues:

"We are very sorry for the ongoing disruption. We fully understand how inconvenient and worrying this is, and we are working as quickly and safely as possible to resolve the issue and restore supplies.

"Our next update will be provided by 08:00 tomorrow morning (5 March)".
