Oxfordshire County Council website taken offline over global issue
Residents are being warned of problems accessing council services after the authority took its main website down as a precaution.
Oxfordshire County Council has taken its main website offline while it investigates an issue affecting websites around the world.
The website provides access to services including parking and traffic filter permits, library accounts and community support.
People trying to access the site have been met with an error message and a Google security warning suggesting their information could be at risk.
The council said in a statement: "Unfortunately, we have had to take our main website down as a precaution while a known issue, affecting websites globally, is investigated."
It has not confirmed whether its systems have been compromised or how long the website will remain unavailable.
Residents are being directed to the council's WhatsApp channel for updates.
