Eight arrested in investigation into Oxford shooting
Four arrested today in connection with a shooting in Littlemore this month
Police have made four further arrests in connection with a shooting in Littlemore, Oxford, earlier this month.
A 20-year-old man from Oxford was arrested in the early hours of this morning, 31st December, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
An 18-year-old man, also from Oxford, was detained on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and possession of an imitation firearm in a public place.
Two more men, aged 20 and 18 and both from Oxford, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
All four men remain in police custody while investigations continue.
The arrests relate to an incident on 19th December in Denny Gardens, Littlemore, where a 19-year-old man was shot in the arm.
Four other individuals — a 19-year-old man, a 24-year-old man, a 22-year-old man, and a 17-year-old girl — had previously been arrested as part of the investigation and remain on conditional police bail.
Detective Inspector George Atkinson, leading the investigation, said:
“We have now arrested eight people in connection with this serious incident of violence, and are making very good progress with our investigation.
“I am also able to confirm that during our investigation so far, we have recovered two firearms and ammunition, the viability of which is still being assessed.
“I hope that our actions so far will go some way to reassuring the local community and that our investigation continues at pace as we seek to bring to justice those who have committed offences.
