Oxford puppy bus welcomes four new dogs
Oxford Bus Company has had some cute visitors with puppies visiting to get first taste of life on the road.
The canines were welcomed to the bus operator’s Cowely depot and completed a special custom route through the city centre aboard one of City Sightseeing Oxford’s open-top tour buses.
Labrador duo Peaches (six months) and Gwen (13 months) were joined by five-month-old shepherd cross Leo and Ushka, a seven-month-old labrador cross.
After leaving the depot, the bus – complete with tail-wagging passengers – headed down Cowley Road, stopping at Manzil Way Garden for a puppy break.
Mandy Jones, Puppy Development Advisor at Guide Dogs, said: “In their life as a guide dog, our dogs will be exposed to all kinds of new situations and ways of transport.
“Ensuring that our puppies can gain some of these experiences early on in life in a safe, controlled manner helps us to give them the best possible start.
“If they are able to explore new things outside of the hustle and bustle of daily life, they can begin to gain the confidence that will ultimately help them succeed with their future guide dog owner.”
