Oxford fraudster jailed for nine years over scams worth over £800k
Neil Stafford has been sentenced after deceiving victims into false investments
A man has been sentenced to nine years in prison following a fraud investigation in Oxford.
Neil Stafford faced charges at Oxford Crown Court and was disqualified from being a Director for 15 years.
Stafford was found guilty of seven counts of fraud by false representation after an eight-week trial, with offences spanning June 2011 to December 2014.
His deceit involved falsely claiming academic credentials, millionaire status, and business ties with significant institutions, enticing victims into investments.
Through a 'Friends and Family' scheme, Stafford misled seven victims into investing a total of £882,000, which he used to fund his extravagant lifestyle.
Stafford was initially arrested on 5th June 2015, charged on 3rd February 2023, and convicted on 19th November 2025.
Detective Constable Neil Rudge from the Economic Crime Unit underlined the commitment of law enforcement to combat fraud and ensure justice.
