Thames Valley Police are seeking three key witnesses who assisted a man following an assault in Oxford, during which he suffered facial injuries.

The incident occurred between 6.05 pm and 6.15 pm on Sunday 12th October in Rose Place.

A man in his forties was walking his Dalmatian when another man, walking with a partner and two dogs, became involved in an altercation.

The larger dog belonging to the alleged offender attacked the Dalmatian, and the victim was then punched in the face by the dog's owner.

The alleged offender is also said to have threatened a bystander who attempted to intervene.

The victim required hospital treatment for facial injuries but has since been discharged.

The suspect has been described as a white man of heavy build, approximately 5ft 6ins tall, bald and clean-shaven, with two eyebrow piercings.

He was wearing glasses, dark trousers, a jacket, and a shirt.

The man's dogs were described as mastiff/pitbull types.

One was large and light-coloured with darker spots, and the other was smaller, brown with short fur and a white chest.

Two young women with dark hair, who spoke with Spanish or Italian accents, identified themselves as medical professionals and advised the victim to attend the hospital.

A young student who lives at the end of Rose Place is believed to have assisted.

Additionally, three males helped with the dogs involved in the attack, although no further details are available about them.

Kenneth Velding, police staff investigator, said: “Numerous people assisted the victim following this assault so I am appealing to them to please get in touch, along with any other witnesses.

“If you have any information, please call Thames Valley Police on 101 quoting the reference 43250522728.

“Or if they wish to report anonymously, they can do so by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
