Police seek help identifying a man with information after two girls were targeted
Thames Valley Police have released CCTV images to assist in an ongoing investigation into a rape and sexual assault involving two 14-year-old girls in Oxford.
The offences occurred on 28th July between 5.15pm and 6pm, beginning when the victims engaged in conversation with four unknown males in Florence Park.
The girls and two of the males later moved to Marsh Park, where one victim was raped and the other sexually assaulted in a secluded wooded area.
Both victims contacted the police immediately after leaving the park.
Detective Constable Sarah Tibble of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit emphasised the importance of identifying a male captured in the released CCTV, who may have crucial information.
The comprehensive investigation has involved forensic examinations, witness statements, phone, and CCTV enquiries, ID parades, and community outreach efforts.
A boy was initially arrested but later cleared of involvement. A 20-year-old man from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion and released on bail with conditions until 14th January.
Anyone who recognises the male in the CCTV or has relevant information is urged to contact Thames Valley Police. Reports can be made via the police website, at a station, or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43260388467.
