Man found dead in Bicester following terrorism arrest
Thames Valley Police were called shortly after 7am today
A man in his 30s has been found dead in Bicester, just a day after being arrested on suspicion of a terrorism-related offence.
Thames Valley Police were called shortly after 7:10am today following reports that a man’s body had been discovered on land near Partridge Chase.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained but not suspicious. A file is being prepared for the coroner, and formal identification has not yet taken place. However, the man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Police confirmed that the man had prior contact with officers, prompting a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The man had been arrested on Monday 15 April by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing South East, on suspicion of possessing material useful for a terrorist purpose, under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
Due to the sensitive and ongoing nature of the investigation, Thames Valley Police say they are unable to provide further details at this time.
