A man has been convicted of murdering his mother, Helen Rundle, following a trial at Oxford Crown Court.

Carl Rundle, aged 41, from The Park, Harwell, was found guilty of one count of murder yesterday after a two-week trial.

The verdict was delivered unanimously by the jury, and Rundle is set to be sentenced at the same court on 23rd October.

Thames Valley Police officers were called to an address in The Park at around 9.35pm on 27th January, but 64-year-old Helen Rundle sadly died at the scene despite their life-saving efforts.

Rundle, who is Helen's son, was arrested at the scene and charged two days later.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Alice Broad of the Major Crime Unit commented, "Following our investigation, a jury has found Carl Rundle murdered his mother at their home earlier this year."

She added, "Our thoughts are with the family at this incredibly difficult time; please respect their privacy."

Thames Valley Police continues to support the family through specially-trained family liaison officers.
