Man charged with kidnap, rape and sexual assault in Wantage and Grove

A 39-year-old has been remanded in custody and is set to appear in court

A man has been charged with kidnap, rape, and sexual assault following investigations into attacks in Wantage and Grove.

Najeebullah Arab, a 39-year-old from Mayfield Avenue in Grove, has been charged with one count of kidnap, one count of rape, and one count of sexual assault.

The charges relate to the kidnap and rape of a woman near Mably Way, Wantage, on 27th January, and the sexual assault of a woman on Cane Lane, Grove, on 21st January.

The court had previously been informed that the sexual assault took place on Main Street, Grove. However, this has now been corrected.

Thames Valley Police confirmed that Najeebullah Arab, an Afghanistan national, has been remanded in police custody and will appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, on 2nd February.

Additionally, police are continuing investigations into an unrelated sexual assault of a woman reported on Oxford Lane, Grove, on 24th January.

Najeebullah Arab has been arrested in connection with this case, but no charges have been filed. He remains under investigation.
