Man arrested after woman raped outside Oxford Ice Rink

Police are urging a key witness who disturbed the assault to contact them as they investigate the rape of a woman in her forties in central Oxford

A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman was assaulted outside Oxford Ice Rink.

The woman, who is in her forties, was attacked by a man known to her at around 10.30pm on Monday night (30 June). She is receiving support from specially trained officers.

The 33-year-old man from Oxford remains in police custody as Thames Valley Police continue their investigation.

Officers are appealing for witnesses, especially a person who disturbed the assault, to come forward.

Detective Constable Marisa Chamberlain, based at Oxford police station, said: “We are carrying out a thorough investigation following this concerning incident.

“An arrest has been made and we are supporting the victim.

“We are asking anyone who may have seen anything around 10.30pm outside the Oxford Ice Rink, or if anyone has CCTV, we would ask them to check if it shows anything that may assist our enquiries. You can send material to us directly via this dedicated online portal.
