Residents evacuated after large fire near Banbury
Firefighters were on the scene in Windrush for over 12 hours
A major house fire near Banbury over the weekend prompted evacuations and a significant emergency response.
The fire, in Windrush, started just before midnight on Saturday (13 June).
Firefighters from Banbury, Deddington, Hook Norton, Bicester, and Burford, along with the Incident Support Unit from Eynsham, tackled the blaze through the early hours of the morning and remained on-site for over 12 hours.
The occupants managed to escape the house and were treated by South Central Ambulance Service.
Efforts to manage the situation were supported by Thames Valley Police, National Grid, SGN, and Thames Water.
A joint investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
