Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses after a knife-related assault in Blackbird Leys, Oxford, which left a young man injured.

Officers were called at approximately 4:35pm on 19 May to reports of an assault causing injury on Blackbird Leys Road.

The victim, a man in his twenties, sustained a superficial wound and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.

Following the incident, police arrested two Oxford men- a 41-year-old and a 20-year-old, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Both remain in police custody while inquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Pete Warne of Oxford CID said: “We understand that incidents involving knives are extremely concerning for the local community. I want to reassure residents that we are carrying out a number of fast-paced enquiries and our investigation is progressing well.

“We are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident, and at this stage we do not believe there to be any wider risk to the public.
