Cyclist seriously injured after crash in Banbury

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision in Banbury.

At around 11.40pm on Thursday, there was a collision involving a cyclist and a dark grey BMW 420d on Hennef Way at the junction with Southam Road.

The cyclist, a man in his thirties, was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

As part of our investigation into this incident, we have arrested a 21-year-old man and 24-year-old man, both from Banbury, on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. They have been released on conditional police bail to allow for further enquiries to take place.

Investigating officer Sergeant James Mathews, from the Roads Policing Unit, said: “I’m appealing to anybody who witnessed this collision or who may have dash-cam footage, to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police. I’m also asking for anyone who saw a grey BMW 420d or a cyclist in the area around the time of the incident to please make contact.
