A34 in west Berkshire closed northbound this weekend
A 9-mile stretch is being resurfaced
National Highways are closing a major route in west Berkshire this weekend.
They're resurfacing sections of the A34 northbound between Beedon and West Ilsley.
To do this, they're closing the A34 northbound from the A34/M4 J13 Chieveley Interchange , West Berkshire to the A4185 Chilton Junction near Didcot in south Oxfordshire.
The closure starts at 9pm and lasts until early on Monday morning.
Multiple weekends
National Highways Project Manager Kathryn Crow said: “Once complete, everyone using this stretch of the A34 will benefit from a smoother, quieter road.
“By carrying out the resurfacing over multiple weekends, we are eliminating the need for months of overnight and weekday closures and reducing the impact of our works on drivers and local communities.
“We work closely with local authorities to agree the most appropriate diversions for all forms of traffic, and these are clearly signed throughout the area.
“Anyone travelling this weekend should plan their journey in advance and follow this carefully planned route, rather than sat-navs.”
