South Belfast carbon monoxide incident resolved by firefighters
Some residents were evacuated last night in the Fane Street area
An apartment building in South Belfast had to be evacuated last night because of a carbon monoxide incident.
Emergency services were called to the Fane Street area shortly before 7.
All residents have since safely returned home after firefighters resolved the issue.
A statement from NIFRS said,“At approximately 1845hrs on 14th May, NIFRS were alerted to a carbon monoxide incident in the Fane Street area of Belfast.”
“Four pumping appliances from Cadogan, Whitla Street and Central Fire stations with fire officers were mobilised to the incident.”
“Firefighters used their breathing apparatus equipment, gas monitor devices and ventilation units to ensure that the incident was resolved safely for the local residents.”
“NIFRS resources left the incident at 2250hrs and the scene was left with the PSNI.”
A statement from PSNI said, “Traffic is now flowing normally in the Tates Avenue area of south Belfast, following the earlier evacuation of an apartment building in Fane Street. All residents have safely returned to their properties”
