A leisure centre in Northamptonshire is set to mark World Mental Health Day with a community event offering free wellbeing sessions and access to local support services.

Towcester Centre for Leisure will host the event today from 10am to 2pm, bringing together organisations including Mind and Family Hub.

Visitors will be able to speak to mental health professionals and support groups, as well as take part in five free wellbeing classes aimed at boosting mood and encouraging positive mental health.

The event coincides with World Mental Health Day, which is held annually on 10th October to raise awareness of mental health issues and encourage open conversations about wellbeing.

This year's theme, set by the World Federation for Mental Health, is "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change", highlighting the importance of listening to people's experiences and using them to shape support and understanding.

Organisers say the event is designed to help people access information, connect with local services and learn more about the support available in their community.

If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health, support is available. You can contact Samaritans free of charge on 116 123, call NHS 111 for urgent mental health support, or dial 999 in an emergency.
