Police in Northampton are asking for public help in identifying witnesses to a fatal accident that occurred in the early hours of this morning on the A45.

At 1.50am, a woman walking on the bridge over the A45 between Great Billing Way and Crow Lane fell into the eastbound carriageway and was hit by several vehicles.

Tragically, she died at the scene.

Authorities are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the event or who may possess relevant footage from CCTV or dash cams.

For now, the A45 remains closed in both directions between the Wilby Way roundabout and Bedford Road junction.

Officials advise motorists to avoid this route and seek alternative travel paths.

Additionally, there is a temporary airspace restriction prohibiting drone flights within 500 metres of the A45’s Billing Bridge until 4pm tomorrow.
