Children and families across West Northamptonshire are being invited to take part in a series of free sports events during the summer holidays.

The Sports Roadshow will visit four locations across the area, offering activities including rugby, cycling, crafts, games and inflatables.

The events, organised by West Northamptonshire Council, aim to encourage people of all ages to get active and spend time together in their local communities.

The roadshow will begin at Northampton's Racecourse on 23 July before moving to New Street Park in Daventry on 24 July. It will then visit Brackley's Town Centre Park on 19 August and Towcester Recreation Ground on 21 August.

Professional sports organisations including Northampton Saints, Northampton Town Football Club and Northamptonshire County Cricket Club will be involved, alongside local sports clubs and community groups.

Families will be able to try a range of activities, while younger children can take part in arts and crafts sessions.

Councillor Kamala Guliyeva, cabinet member for local economy, culture and leisure at West Northamptonshire Council, said the events would provide opportunities for families to enjoy activities together free of charge.

"We know that the cost of activities can be a challenge for many households, so we're delighted to provide opportunities for children and families to get active, try new sports and have fun together at no cost," she said.

More information is available on the council's website.
