Across West Northamptonshire today, thousands of families are receiving confirmation of their children's primary school placements as National Offer Day marks a significant educational milestone.

A total of 4,431 reception places have been allocated, with 94.7 per cent of applicants securing a spot at their first choice school, an improvement from 94.6 per cent the previous year.

Overall, 99.45 per cent of families received an offer for one of their preferred schools, up from 99.1 per cent last year.

Parents and carers who applied online are receiving their offers via email today, 16th April.

West Northamptonshire Council provides detailed guidance for those who did not receive their preferred choice, ensuring they have the opportunity to appeal through the independent admissions appeals process.

Additionally, 196 places at junior schools (Year 3) have been allocated to pupils transitioning from infant schools, with an impressive 100% securing their first preference school.

The next allocation round for late applicants is scheduled for May.

Councillor Michael Stratton, Cabinet Member for children, families, and education at West Northamptonshire Council, commented on the process:

“National Offer Day is an important milestone for families, and I’m pleased that the vast majority have received an offer at one of their preferred schools. We understand that this can be an anxious time, particularly for those who may not have received their first preference, and I want to reassure parents and carers that our admissions team is on hand to provide guidance and support.”

Stratton emphasized the council's dedication to ensuring every child receives access to a high-quality education and the best possible start in their school journey.
