Free library sessions aim to boost digital skills across West Northants
The sessions include Tech support and NHS App help
People across West Northamptonshire are being encouraged to improve their digital skills through a series of free sessions at local libraries during Get Online Week.
The initiative, running from 20th to 27th October, aims to help people build confidence using technology as more everyday services move online.
Sessions will include one-to-one digital support, Tea & Tech drop-ins, NHS App guidance and workshops delivered in partnership with AbilityNet. Residents can get help using smartphones, tablets and computers, accessing online services safely and developing practical digital skills.
Library staff will also offer support with the NHS App, including setting up accounts, managing appointments, ordering repeat prescriptions and accessing other health services online.
West Northamptonshire Council says the programme builds on the digital support already available throughout the year in libraries, including free access to computers and Wi-Fi, help with online council and health services, digital learning resources and personalised advice.
Councillor Charlie Hastie, the council's deputy leader and cabinet member for housing and communities, said many people still found technology daunting despite digital skills becoming increasingly important.
He said: "Our libraries provide welcoming, trusted spaces where residents can access free support, learn new skills and gain the confidence to use online services independently."
Residents are advised to contact their local library or visit West Northamptonshire Council website for further details.
