Council seeks public input on Francis Jetty anti-social behaviour order renewal
West Northamptonshire Council invites public feedback on plans to extend the order
West Northamptonshire Council has launched a public consultation on plans to extend the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) covering Francis Jetty in Northampton.
Located off Bridge Street, Francis Jetty is a busy walkway between Kingswell Street and St Peters Way car park, yet it has long struggled with persistent reports of drug dealing and anti-social behaviour.
The current PSPO, introduced in April 2023, allows the jetty to be gated 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The council says this measure played an important role in lowering crime, drug use, and anti-social behaviour in the area.
The order is set to expire on April 11, 2026, but the council is now proposing to renew it for a further three years, until April 10, 2029.
No changes are being proposed to the restrictions or the area covered by the order.
Residents, businesses, and stakeholders are invited to share their views as part of the consultation.
