Adult social care waiting times improve across West Northamptonshire
Improvements include a reduction in the number of people waiting for assessments
Residents in West Northamptonshire are experiencing early improvements in Adult Social Care services, with reduced waiting times and enhanced support as the council continues its work to improve care.
These developments follow the council’s Becoming Better Together improvement programme, established after the Care Quality Commission's assessment of Adult Social Care in 2025.
Approved in April this year, the improvement plan aims to strengthen services, boost performance, and provide timely, effective support to those in need.
Significant results show:
- A reduction in the number of people waiting for Occupational Therapy support from 420 to 156.
- A decrease in the number of people waiting for an Adult Social Care assessment from 310 to 72.
- An increase in the proportion of people receiving a review of their care and support within 12 months, now at 75% compared to 56% earlier.
Other areas showing progress include safeguarding processes, workforce development, better hospital discharge arrangements, and improved support for carers.
Councillor Laura Couse, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health said:
"These improvements are making a positive difference for residents, carers and families. There is still more work to do, but I am encouraged by the progress being made already.
''Our focus remains on delivering the improvements residents rightly expect and ensuring people receive the support they need, when they need it."
