A registered sex offender from Wellingborough has been jailed for violating the terms of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Aaron Ray Dungey, 34, was found to have contacted three children, despite a court order issued as part of his conviction in December 2016 for assaulting a female child under 13.

On 9th February, Northamptonshire Police’s MOSOVO Team conducted an unannounced visit to Dungey’s home, where they discovered evidence on his mobile phone that he had breached his SHPO.

The next day, Dungey pleaded guilty to the offences at Northampton Magistrates’ Court.

He was sentenced to one year and six months in prison at Northampton Crown Court on 16th April.

Lucy Fraser-Allen, Risk Management Officer from the MOSOVO team, emphasised the seriousness of SHPO breaches.

“Sexual Harm Prevention Orders are put in place to protect the public, particularly children, from individuals who pose a risk,” Fraser-Allen said.

“Aaron Dungey was fully aware of the conditions he was required to follow and chose to ignore them.

Breaches like this will always be taken extremely seriously, and we will continue to carry out proactive checks and take robust action against registered sex offenders who fail to comply with court orders.”
