Northampton schools named on 'school war' social media trend
Northamptonshire Police say anyone seen fighting will be arrested
Parents in Northampton are being advised to talk to their children about a concerning social media trend that appears to encourage violence between teenagers from different schools.
Posts have been circulating on platforms like TikTok and Snapchat which divide schools into 'red' and 'blue' teams. In one post seen by Greatest Hits Radio a 'Northampton War' was referenced and listed around 12 local schools.
Northamptonshire Police said they were aware of the post and warned that "anyone seen fighting or wielding weapons of any kind will be arrested".
Similar posts have also reportedly been circulating in other areas including Hackney and Bristol.
A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said: “We are aware of this post on social media and will be visiting schools across the town today to speak to their students about it.
“We would strongly encourage anyone thinking of attending this event not to do so as anyone seen fighting or wielding weapons of any kind will be arrested by police.
“We would also ask parents/guardians to speak to their children to ensure you know where they are and explain the dangers of getting involved in violent or disorderly behaviour.”
