A man from Kettering and a man from Lincolnshire have been sentenced to more than 13 years in prison after a serious sexual assault in Corby.

Michael Rooney, 23, from Broughton has been given 7 years and 9 months and Jimmy Doran, 22, from Kirton, Boston has been sentenced to six years.

On the night of October 12 2020, Rooney and Jimmy Doran drove a woman to a property in Stanion Lane before coercing her into drinking a bottle of Lambrini and half a bottle of white wine.

They then proceeded to rape her.

The woman managed to escape despite her phone being taken away from her, and a short time later she called Northamptonshire Police to report the offences.

An investigation was launched, and Rooney and Doran were arrested and subsequently charged with rape.
