Police in Northampton have safely removed a suspicious device from a property on St Andrews Road, bringing an end to an incident that occurred earlier today.

Officers were called shortly before noon following reports of a device found at a residential address.

A cordon was established, and nearby homes were evacuated as the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team evaluated the threat posed by the device.

The device has since been removed, and police have confirmed that there is no ongoing risk to the public.

All road closures have been lifted, and residents are able to return to their properties.

“We understand this will have caused concern, and we thank everyone for their patience and support while we responded to this incident,” police said.
