Hundreds of people will be speeding around the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit today - but on two feet, instead of in a car.

They're taking on Run Fest, with many participants supporting local charities.

Jak Lewis from Bicester signed up for the challenge after his mum was diagnosed with breast cancer, and is raising money for local cancer support charity The Hummingbird Centre.

Jak said other members of his family and some neighbours also have cancer and he wanted to start running to manage his emotions.

"It's one of those things where you don't really realise until it happens to you. Trying to manage it myself, someone said why don't you go for a run, so my point of view was - why don't I put it to good use and why don't I train and try to raise money for something" he said.

Jak will run 2210m – the length of the Run Fest half marathon circuit at Silverstone on - and hopes to raise £2210. He added: "the start of it will be great because the adrenaline will kick in and I'll be loving it. I imagine when I get about half way I'm going to be thinking 'what am I doing'. "At the tougher times during the run - and my knees start to go - I'm going to think of my Mum and the money I've raised completing it and how many lives hopefully it will help."

Thankfully Jak's Mum is now recovered and will be cheering him on from the sidelines as he completes his half marathon.

Run Fest at Silverstone also includes a 10K, 5K and the Family Mile, with runners navigating the famed Copse Corner and Hangar Straight.
