Locals invited to shape £20m investment in Wellingborough
Community members encouraged to join Neighbourhood Board for local development
Residents and stakeholders of Wellingborough’s Queensway estate have an opportunity to influence a £20 million government investment in their community.
The recently appointed Chair of the Queensway Neighbourhood Board, Nicky Kingsnorth, is inviting local people to join the Board and have a meaningful role in shaping the area’s future.
Part of the Government’s Pride in Place programme, the council says this investment seeks to ''empower local voices'' to craft a ''shared vision'' for Queensway. Councillors say Neighbourhood Board will be instrumental in determining how funds are allocated to meet community needs effectively.
Chair Nicky Kingsnorth said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to have a real say in how Queensway develops over the next decade. You don’t need previous experience – just a willingness to get involved, listen, and work together to create a better future for the community.”
Gen Kitchen, MP for Wellingborough & Rushden, added: “This exciting project will see record levels of Government investment in the Queensway estate. We want the people who know the area best to play a vital role in shaping its future.”
North Northamptonshire Council Leader, Cllr Martin Griffiths, highlighted the potential impact: “This is a real opportunity for local people to make a big difference to where they live, and I’d encourage anyone who has the passion and drive to help take things forward to put in an application.”
To provide further information, two drop-in sessions are scheduled at the Queensway Resource Centre in Brooke Mews on Tuesday, 23rd June between 5pm and 7pm, and Friday, 26th June between 8am and 10am.
