A group of police officers provided life-saving CPR to a man suffering a heart attack in Uppingham after his daughter flagged them down for help.

The incident occurred on Monday, 26th January, as PC Taylor Ladner, PC Becca Tomalin, and PC Louis Brandham were taking part in an advanced driver training course.

The officers were driving along Uppingham Road when the distressed daughter stopped them, explaining that her father was unwell in his car.

PCs Ladner and Tomalin swiftly exited their vehicle, removed the man from his car, and began administering CPR.

Meanwhile, PC Brandham and Driver Trainer Andy Hunt went to a nearby school to retrieve a defibrillator. Upon returning, PC Brandham applied the defibrillator as the other two officers continued performing CPR.

The man regained consciousness and was transported to hospital for further treatment. He is now recovering at home.

Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox commended the officers for their actions, stating:

“These officers undoubtedly saved this man’s life, and I am so pleased to hear that he is now on the road to recovery at home. Our best wishes go out to him.

“What stands out for me about this incident is not only the officers’ technical skills, but the professionalism, courage and compassion they demonstrated throughout - this was an extraordinary example of teamwork and public service at its very best.

“Actions like these reflect the very highest standards of policing and we are exceptionally proud of all the officers involved.”

Angela Wilson, the man’s daughter, expressed her gratitude to the officers, saying:

“We are so incredibly thankful to the police team who were able to help and act so quickly and calmly to save my father.

“It was just by luck that they were driving past just after it happened, but they were a testament to their training, and it was amazing how they immediately dealt with everything. We owe them a lot.”

Thanks to the swift actions of the police officers, the man is able to continue his recovery at home.
