Police launch fraud investigation after man buys phone using fake banknotes in Corby

A woman had advertised the device on Facebook, and the man paid in fake cash when he collected it from her home

Police officers have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to following an incident of fraud in Weldon, Corby.

The incident happened at around 9.35pm on Wednesday, April 1, at an address in Prestoe Close, after the victim advertised her mobile phone for sale on Facebook.

An unknown man came to her house to buy the phone, but it was later discovered he had paid using fake bank notes before leaving the area with the device.

Officers believe the man pictured may have information that could assist with their enquiries.

He, or anyone who recognises him, are asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
