A Northamptonshire man has been jailed for over three years after pleading guilty to stalking his former partner.

Ben Fox, 25, appeared at Northampton Crown Court on Friday (September 23rd) and was sentenced to a total of three years and three months.

The court heard how between February 21st and May 15th this year, Fox has stalked his former partner by subjecting her to a number of phone calls and messages, as well as sending letters to her home.

He also admitted that he had tried to make indirect contact with the woman using other people to feed her messages.

Fox had been held at HMP Five Wells in Wellingborough at the time of the offences, using other inmates to send letters to the woman.

After the woman came forward to police, Foz was charged with one count of stalking involving serious alarm or distress.

On top of his custodial sentence, Fox was also given a restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim for ten years.

Speaking on the ruling, Nathaniel Foster from Northamptonshire Police said: “Ben Fox showed a complete disregard for the victim and the impact his persistent and unwanted behaviour was having on her. Despite being in prison, he continued to find ways to contact and intimidate her, causing significant distress.

“Stalking can have a devastating effect on victims, leaving them feeling frightened and constantly on edge. I would like to commend the survivor in this case for her courage in coming forward and supporting our investigation.

“We take all reports of stalking and domestic abuse seriously and hope this sentence sends a clear message that this type of offending will not be tolerated.”
