A group are telling us about their work to try and promote the sites of Northamptonshire - with Brown Signs.

They're designed to help road users find attractions and facilities, such as museums, historical sites and parks.

John Henderson is one of the founding members of the On The Map group:

"There's a really big push to promote tourism here in Northamptonshire.

"It just makes sense to look at what brown signage there is around different places and landmarks and see if we're maximising the usage.

"We basically need to help visitors understand what offerings there are when it comes to things to experience in the county.

"It's been found that places like Castle Ashby and Rushden Lakes do quite well out of signage and have a lot of promotion.

"However, for example what we did find is that for those coming northbound heading up the M1, that there's an opportunity to tell people what there is available off junction 15.

"We talk about things like pubs losing out on trade, and there are clear challenges there.

"If we can attract more people into the county, there's more potential opportunity to help those people and those visitors spend more money while they're here.

"It's support for the tourism economy ultimately which has a direct benefit for business."
