Five years on we’re hearing about the ongoing fundraising work of Northamptonshire charity which set up during lockdown.

Teresa was landlady of Northampton’s Swan & Helmet pub and saw the need to establish a food bank for struggling families. It’s led to the formation of the McCarthy-Dixon Foundation helping to provide ongoing support.

One of their big events this year is 6-day epic cycle challenge over to the west coast of Ireland in August.

Teresa told us how that came about:

"Well last summer myself and friends travelled London to Paris, and basically we fancied a new challenge.

"On top of this, my husband is actually from Belmullet in County Mayo, where we're off to.

"Also a lot of people who come in the pub are originally Mayo folk, so we just fancied something different.

"It's been fun setting things up, and mapping out the journey which we'll take.

"Generally it's to raise awareness and raise funds, for our foodbank services, and for our work with 98 schools across Northamptonshire.

"The needs and the commitment on what we've undertaken is massive, so we'd love you to get involved.

"Every step of the journey has been thought about from support while you're cycling through to your accommodation."
