Luton man jailed for targeting sportsman's home in Northamptonshire burglary
Cross-border police investigation leads to four-year sentence
A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to four years in prison for targeting the home of professional sportsman Kyren Wilson in Northamptonshire.
Kane Lee, from Luton, acquired tools and clothing from B&Q and Tesco on the morning of 22nd June, before driving to Kettering to commit the burglary.
Fitted with cloned number plates, his vehicle arrived in Barton Seagrave, where Lee broke into the four-bedroom detached house by shattering an upstairs window.
Inside, Lee stole high-value jewellery, luxury watches, designer handbags, and cash from the World Snooker Champion's residence.
Northamptonshire Police worked closely with Bedfordshire Police, which led to Lee's swift identification and arrest.
Lee initially appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court and remained in custody awaiting a trial set for January 2027.
During a hearing at Northampton Crown Court on 12th October, he changed his plea to guilty, leading to his four-year sentence and an order to pay a £228 surcharge.
Detective Inspector Alan Rooney, who led the investigation, praised the cooperation between the police forces and stressed the importance of collaboration in tackling cross-border crime, saying, "People often underestimate how violating it can feel to know that someone has been inside your home."
