Northampton Town has bolstered its squad by signing Nottingham Forest players Ben Hammond and Kyle McAdam on loan for the remainder of the season.

Hammond, a 21-year-old Welsh Under-21 international, is versatile, capable of playing in defence or midfield. He has been a regular for Forest's B team, and manager Kevin Nolan expressed enthusiasm about his potential.

"Ben is a player who caught our eye when we have seen him play for Forest on a number of occasions," Nolan said.

"He comes here with a similar profile to Ben Perry last season and he is one we are possibly looking at beyond the next few months.

"We think he could have a big future in the game, people whose opinion we trust and value agree and rate him very highly.

"He can play in a back three or in central midfield and can perform either role well.

"He has a great attitude, a strong will to win and he is a player we are delighted to welcome to the club."

Kyle McAdam, also joining from Forest, adds flexibility to Northampton Town’s options. The 21-year-old can play anywhere down the left-hand side or as a number ten. He spent the first half of the season on loan at Mansfield Town, making 14 appearances, and captained Forest's B team to victory in the Premier League International Cup last season.

"Kyle has just finished his loan at Mansfield Town and while things may not have gone ideally to plan for him there, like we did with Ethan Wheatley, we have seen some attributes we feel we can help get the best of," Nolan said.

"He has some real quality about him, he has had a taste of League One so he knows what this level is all about and he is very well thought of at Nottingham Forest.

"He can play as a number ten, or anywhere down the left-hand side and he has a wonderful left foot."

Nolan highlighted the strong relationship between Northampton Town and Forest, adding: "We have an excellent relationship with Nottingham Forest and he is another player who we think can come in and help us."

Both players will aim to make an impact as Northampton Town push forward in their season.
