Northampton man jailed for robbing same shop three days in a row
Ayman Ali targeted a Clinton Road store with a knife and stole cash, alcohol, and snacks.
A 22-year-old man has been sent to prison for more than five years after admitting to robbing the same shop three days in a row in Northampton.
Ayman Ali targeted a store on Clinton Road between 28th and 30th December 2024. On the first day, Ali stole a bottle of Malibu rum, some sweets, and a packet of crisps after entering a staff-only area.
He escalated his behaviour the following day, brandishing a kitchen knife, jumping over the counter and taking the till tray containing cash.
On the third day, after an argument with a cashier, Ali again went behind the till area to steal money. He then pretended to work in the shop briefly, serving a handful of customers, taking their cash for purchases and momentarily taking a customer’s mobile phone.
Police were called and Ali was quickly identified, arrested and charged with two counts of robbery, burglary and possession of a knife. He was later also charged with assaulting a police constable after he pushed an officer during his arrest.
Ali pleaded guilty to all charges at Northampton Crown Court and was sentenced to five years and three months in prison.
