Northampton Town wrap up their torturous League One season with a showdown against Plymouth Argyle at Sixfields Stadium this afternoon.

After a tough stretch that saw them notch up ten consecutive defeats and set an unwelcome club record, the team is keen to dodge an eleventh loss and finish this challenging season on a brighter note.

Interim manager Colin Calderwood shared what the vibe is like in the camp ahead of the match, describing things as "pretty normal," even amid the season's ups and downs.

Calderwood commented, "Sportsmen have to go on with disappointment and everything that comes with that. You turn up, do your job and try your best."

With their relegation confirmed following a loss to Luton Town, Northampton is facing off against a Plymouth team that's gunning for a playoff spot.

"The excitement will come from them and the nervousness will come from them, but we've got to be very combative," Calderwood said.

While injuries might force a few changes, Calderwood is sticking to recent strategies, hoping for a strong performance against Plymouth.

Looking beyond today’s game, the club is in talks with a "well-funded investment group" aiming to clear their debts and set the foundation for a fresh start in League Two next season.

Club chairman Kelvin Thomas is optimistic about these discussions, hoping they will secure the right support for the club’s future.

Announcements on player contracts are expected soon, as decisions continue to shape up towards the end of this month or early next.

Today’s match also sees some academy players on the bench.
